Wellbeing and Inclusion Update

Educational Support Information
Just like Teaching Staff, Educational Support Staff play a vital role in the smooth and effective functioning of primary schools. They work alongside teachers to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed, both academically and socially. These staff members often include teacher aides, administrative staff, and welfare or wellbeing officers. Their contributions extend far beyond classroom assistance—they are an essential part of the school community, supporting learning, inclusion, and the overall wellbeing of students.
In the classroom, support staff provide targeted help to students who need extra guidance, whether due to learning difficulties, disabilities, or emotional challenges. By offering one-on-one or small group support, they help bridge gaps in learning and enable teachers to focus on delivering quality instruction. They also assist with classroom organisation, and implementing differentiated strategies designed to meet diverse learning needs. This direct support helps to create a more inclusive and equitable learning environment for all children.
Beyond academic support, Educational Support Staff play a key role in fostering positive relationships and maintaining a nurturing school culture. They often serve as trusted adults that students feel comfortable approaching for help or reassurance. Their care and consistency contribute to students’ sense of safety, belonging, and confidence at school. Additionally, they assist in managing behaviour, supporting transitions, and reinforcing social and emotional learning.
Educational Support Staff are the backbone of a well-functioning school. Their dedication ensures that teachers are supported, students are engaged and cared for, and classrooms run smoothly. By working collaboratively as part of the wider school team, they make an invaluable contribution to the overall learning experience and success of every child.
Here at Wollert, we are lucky to have such an experienced and well run Educational Support team and we are appreciative of all they do.
