Welcome back to Term 4! We have a wonderful term of learning ahead.
Dear Wollert PS Families,
We have an exciting term ahead with many school events and learning opportunities, including the 2026 Prep Transition, Graduation, Christmas Joy Concert, and various incursions and excursions. We believe we have a fantastic way to finish 2025 with plenty of valuable learning experiences and a well-structured transition process for 2026 classes.
I hope everyone had a wonderful break and spent quality time with their loved ones. The dedicated staff at Team Wollert have noticed that students have returned calm and focused in the learning environments. Well done to the Wollert PS students on Week 1; keep up the great work.
Over the next couple of weeks, teachers will be working on the assessment and moderation of student learning, with an upcoming Numeracy Common Assessment Task (CAT) that will be shared with families shortly. Please keep an eye out for communication from your classroom teacher.
Last week, we celebrated World Teachers' Day by recognising the incredible work our teachers do every day at WPS to guide and nurture the development of our students. A big thank you to the dedicated educators at Wollert Primary School for making a difference in the lives of our students and in our school community. Hats off to the staff and we hope you enjoyed the special morning tea.
Congratulations to the following students in Mahlia (English), Fahmi, and Sash (Mathematics) from Years 5/6 who have been selected to participate in the Victorian High Ability Program this term. This initiative, offered by the department for Years 5-8 students, aims to extend the learning of students excelling in Literacy and Numeracy through a 10-week online enrichment program delivered by Virtual School Victoria. Students are chosen based on their NAPLAN results, semester curriculum scores, and assessments across the state. We commend these students on their pursuit of excellence, and we are very proud of your achievements!
Family Time (New Initiative) - Focus on Connection
Family Timewill be held on Wednesday, October 22nd, in the Art Room from 3:20pm to 4:00 pm. All families are welcome attend and have the opportunity to work with their children on art or craft activities. This is a chance for Wollert families to meet each other and connect. Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer to attend the session.
Student Leadership Positions for 2026
Our Year 5 students will have the opportunity to be selected for leadership positions in 2026 as we build our student leadership program at the school. Both students and teachers are very excited about this opportunity, as we know our students are eager to take on leadership roles within the school. These positions will help students develop their leadership skills for high school and beyond.
Upcoming School Events in the next couple of weeks:

Please refer to your Pitter Patter booklet for helpful tips for preparing for the start of the school year, including advice on how to pack your school bag for the first day at Wollert Primary School.
As mentioned in a recent Compass update, we would like to remind all families about the importance of sun safety at school. Please ensure that your child brings a broad-brimmed school hat each day during Terms 1 and 4. According to our SunSmart policy, students without a hat will be directed to shaded areas during outdoor play and activities. Thank you for your support in promoting sun-safe habits and protecting all students throughout Term 4.
To help keep everyone safe in the sun, we also encourage the following:
- Apply sunscreen before school each morning
- Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated
Finaly, to our school community members celebrating Diwali next week, we wish you a Happy Diwali surrounded by your loved ones.
Have a lovely week. We look forward to our students leading Storytime next week and announcing our 'Be Joy' certificates.
Kind regards,
Justin Lania
