Reflecting on growth as we approach the end of the year
As we approach the end of the 2025 school year, our teachers are assessing student learning across all areas of the curriculum. This important process helps us to celebrate the growth our students have made, identify their next steps and fine tune goals for the final few weeks of learning. Assessment at our school is not just about the end result. It’s about understanding each learner’s journey. Guided by the PYP’s four dimensions of assessment: monitoring, documenting, measuring and reporting, we use a range of tools and observations to build a complete picture of student progress. This approach ensures that every student’s achievements, efforts and areas for growth are recognised and supported as we continue to nurture confident, capable and reflective learners.
We’re proud to share our students’ strong achievements in this year’s PAT Maths and Reading assessments. These assessments are completed at the end of every year and are now part of the MACS system wide assessment schedule. The majority of our students performed within or above the expected range for their year level, with many achieving in the higher bands. These results highlight students’ growing confidence, problem-solving, and comprehension skills, as well as the impact of our targeted teaching programs.
We congratulate all our students on their hard work, perseverance and success this year. Thank you to our dedicated teachers for their ongoing commitment to nurturing confident and capable learners. And thank you to our parent community for the ongoing support and partnership between home and school.
MACS eSafety summit 2025
Rachael Bulcock and Natalie Cromie had the opportunity to attend the 2025 MACS eSafety summit in October. The keynote speakers included members from the Vic Police, eSafety office and Dr. Billy Garvey. All speakers provided valuable insights into cybersafety, covering topics such as managing emotional stress, thriving online and offline and how we can work together to support safe digital engagement.
The social media ban will be in place on the 10th December. Further information can be found in the previous newsletter or by visiting eSafety.gov.au.
If you haven’t yet explored Dr. Billy Garvey’s popcast- Pop Culture Parenting, I highly recommend finding an episode that sparks your interest. Using iconic movies from the 80s and provides context for discussions on topics such as screentime, neurodiversity, hope, connections, big feelings and much more.
This podcast is about finding the sweet spot between the textbooks and real life when it comes to parenting. Dr Billy (a developmental paediatrician) and Nick (a developing parent) are a couple of dads having honest discussions about parenting day to day. https://www.guidinggrowingminds.com/popcultureparenting
