Acting Principal’s Message

Mrs Kathlene Fenton

Dear Parents and carers,

Week 3, wow this term is going to go quickly!

As you would be aware, the Armidale Catholic Schools Office (CSO) informed the Sacred Heart Community last week that Mrs Kath Baird resigned from her position as Principal of Sacred Heart Boggabri. In that communication, it was announced that I would be taking over in the role of Acting Principal for the remainder of Term 4 2023. I want to thank everyone for being so understanding and patient during this transition period, just as you have been with the temporary changes we’ve already experienced.

Be rest assured, though, that the wellbeing of the students and staff are always of our highest priority. It’s been wonderful to see how positive their start to the term has been so far. Our doors are always open and I am always willing to make time to chat to families when needed. In the meantime, the CSO has started a recruitment process to hire a Principal for Sacred Heart to commence at the start of the 2024 school year and we will communicate the news of the appointment of this role as soon as it is announced.

What is happening around the school this week:

2024 Yr 7 St Mary's College Transition Taster Day

Tomorrow, 24th October our Yr 6 students who are enrolled at St Mary's College next year will join St Francis Xavier's School Narrabri at a 2024 Yr 7 Taster Day. Mr Adam Mooney,  St Mary's College K-12 Learning Community Co-ordinator will be picking the students up in their bus at approximately 9:45am, so students will need to come to school as normal. They will return to school by approx. 2pm so home arrangements will be as normal unless communicated to the school prior to tomorrow.

PTF Meeting

The next PTF General meeting will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 24th of October at 5:30pm at school. All parents and friends are warmly invited to this meeting.

Socktober

This week we will be raising funds for the Catholic Mission which is sanctioned by the Bishop and all schools in the Armidale Diocese must participate in this fundraiser. Socktober is a program exclusively run by Catholic Mission, and raises funds for programs benefiting children around the world. Each year, Catholic Mission chooses a focus country to represent how the funds raised through Socktober will benefit children overseas. In 2023, the money we raise will help children and families in Timor-Leste.

The children have been asked to bring in old rags, ripped up old clothes, plastic bags, string or wool to create socktober soccer balls. The students will make these on Wednesday so please start sending these materials in from tomorrow. On Friday at 2 pm (please note change of time) the students will have a kick off with the balls on the back oval. Parents are welcome to come and cheer on their kids.

This Friday we will hold our Crazy Hair and Sock Day and the children are invited to come to school with crazy hair and socks. They are asked to bring a gold coin donation that will go towards the Catholic Mission fundraiser.

World Teachers Day

This Friday we celebrate World Teachers Day. We thank all the teachers in our lives as they always make such a difference. A very special thank you to the teachers of Sacred Heart as they really are one in a million.

Happy birthday to Samuel who turns 8 on Wednesday 25th October and Mrs Darley who celebrated her special day this Friday. We hope you both have an amazing day!

Kind regards

Kathlene Fenton
