Congratulations to the following students:

  • Our Grade 10 students for a wonderful Personal Project exhibition last week
  • Students in Grade 2-10 who participated in the ICAS tests earlier this year. ICAS Assessments are designed to challenge able students by presenting the students with questions that require high levels of analysis, reasoning and problem solving. Across the 6 test domains of Digital Technologies, Science, Mathematics, English- Reading, Writing, and Spelling, our students completed 93 tests. From this, students were presented with 15 Merits, 27 Credits, 14 Distinctions, 2 High Distinctions and 4 Medals. Thank you to Mrs Klaver for her organisation of the ICAS testing.
  • A special note of congratulations to Emily Aschmann who received a medal in writing, Jeremy Prajogo for a medal for Spelling Bee and Timothy Prajogo who achieved medals in Mathematics and English. Medals are awarded for the student who achieves the highest score in the region.
  • Angus Richardson who achieved first place in Tasmania in the Australian Geography competition 2023.

It was a pleasure to see so many parents and friends attend the Personal Project exhibition last Thursday evening. The event was a celebration of the diverse passions and skills of students within the year group. There were projects encompassing areas such as arts and craft, cooking, music, writing, video production, photography, construction, card tricks and horse training. Each student had a unique story of how they developed their project idea and some of the hiccups and successes along the way.

A special thank you to the parents, mentors and staff who supported students throughout the journey and to Mrs Dianne Vanderplas who oversees the Personal Project process. I hope our Grade 9 students are starting to consider potential project ideas for next year.

We are looking forward to our Arts celebration night this evening. We have a gallery set up in the Lower Hall, with examples of student art, design and media work. From 6:00pm, our music and drama students will be kicking off their polished pieces in the Auditorium. I know some of the students are feeling nervous about performing for an audience but it is such an important opportunity for students to learn how to navigate an experience that takes them out of their comfort zone. Knowing they are in an environment where they are fully supported can also help them to be courageous.

Through all these valuable experiences, I thank God that each student is ‘fearfully and wonderfully’ made and that we have such precious opportunities to genuinely celebrate the wide range of talents our young people have been blessed with and have developed through consistent nurturing by those around them.

Psalm 139:13-16

For you formed my inward parts;

   you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are your works;

   my soul knows it very well.

My frame was not hidden from you,

when I was being made in secret,

   intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

   the days that were formed for me,

   when as yet there was none of them.
