From the Head of Junior School
This week we have been focusing on the character strength of Humour. A character strength that is often desired but can easily go wrong. We are reminded in Proverbs 17:22, that a cheerful heart is good medicine.
Humour enhances social skills by making interactions more enjoyable and comfortable. Humour can also act as a coping mechanism, helping us to deal with difficulties. It uplifts moods and encourages positive thinking. Conversely, humour can have negative effects when used inappropriately. Excessive or insensitive humour may hurt or offend others. Some individuals use humour as a defence mechanism to avoid addressing serious issues or emotions, hindering personal growth and relationships.
Humour is a valuable character strength when used judiciously. The key is to balance humour with sensitivity to the situation and the feelings of those involved. We laugh with others, rather than at them.
World Teacher’s Day
This Friday 27th October is World Teacher’s Day – we would love your children to help us celebrate. If they would like to write a small note, make a card or share a little bit of joy with their teacher – you will make their day on Friday.
Have a great week.
