The Great Book Swap

As stated in the last school newsletter, we are very excited to announce that the ‘Great Book Swap’ will be taking place at Vermont Primary School this term!

The ‘Great Book Swap’ is a fantastic way to celebrate reading whilst raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

At the beginning of Week 7 (Monday 13th November), we will be welcoming all VPS students to donate ONE of their own books that they do not read anymore. (It has to still be in good condition though).  We will be organising them to be dropped in to some special boxes in the stadium as they enter for the next Whole School Assembly. (Alternative arrangements will be made for the Year 6 students as they will be on an excursion that day.)

Then, on Friday  the 17th November, the Student Council Representatives will hold the Great Book Swap! This is where all the books will be sorted and the students can find a new book of their choice. To be able to take a book of their choice, they will need to bring along a gold coin donation.

The idea is to ‘swap’ ONE of their own books for another book, but also donating to help towards carefully chosen books being purchased for children in remote Communities across the country.

We are looking forward to supporting this incredible cause, whilst also finding an exciting new book to read!

The Great Book Swap

Today, the student council members were given slips to hand out to their class. This is a reminder to:

  • Bring a book on Monday 13th to donate. It must be in good condition!
  • Bring a gold coin donation on Friday 17th to choose another book!

Thank you, we look forward to our collection day and the day of the actual swap. BUT most of all we look forward to making a donation to Indigenous literacy Foundation.
