Premier’s Reading Challenge

This year we have been celebrating 20 Years of the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) in South Australia.

First introduced in 2004, Emmaus Christian College has been participating every year since. The PRC is designed to encourage students to read a wide variety of books suitable for their reading ability.

Participation

We strongly encourage all students from Foundation to Year 12 to participate in the Challenge of reading 12 books. This year an extra challenge of 20 books was added to celebrate the 20 years of the PRC.

Participation is high in our Junior Schools and while it is more challenging to encourage students to continue to read for pleasure beyond Junior School we have an enthusiastic group of readers in Years 7-12 every year.

We had 520 students from Foundation to Year 10 complete their Premier’s Reading Challenge across the College. With 478 students completing the extra challenge of reading 20 books between February and September.
