Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) – Update

The Grade Twos and Fours were chosen to develop their skills in Numeracy or Reading this term, with a focus on improving academic performance, preparing students for assessments such as Naplan and improving self-esteem and confidence. We also have a Grade Three group developing their reading comprehension and a Grade Four and Five group who are continuing to develop their Numeracy skills.

We have worked through a variety of texts including, NAPLAN practise texts, Fountas and Pinnell and comprehension cards. Students have paid special attention to reading the text completely, reading the questions carefully and identifying any key words, and finding evidence in the text to support our answer.

In Mathematics we have been working on Column Multiplication, with all students achieving their goals and about to move on to new goals in Division. The Grade Two's have completed Naplan Practise Tests with attention to reading questions carefully and practising different strategies to work out the answer as a group. Next week students in Grades Four and above will be able to complete a student survey inviting them to share their thoughts on tutoring sessions, and how it has supported their learning.
