Beyond the Classroom
On this page, we celebrate the accomplishments of Wantirna College students outside of the classroom. We hope you will be as amazed as we are by both the breadth of student involvement in the wider community and student personal achievement.
Congratulations to Mitchel Mays!
Last weekend, graduating Year 12 student, Mitch Mays competed in the Karate World Cup in Sydney, achieving the following outstanding results:
- 4th place out of 15 competitors in the Kata Competition (16-17yr old division)
- 4th place out of 45 competitors (all age groups and levels) in the Highest Kick competition
- 6th place out of 20 in the Sparring competition (16-17yr old division)
- 16th place out of 180 for Mitch's team, Impact Martial Arts
Mitch had to rush off after the Year 12 Last Day Celebrations to catch his flight and compete over three days. Mitch is currently a First Degree Black Belt in Karate and teaches at Impact Martial Arts, Kilsyth. After graduation, Mitch will be focussing on his Karate career.
