Introducing FriYAY Games
As the weather improves, it's a wonderful time to enjoy some time outside and soak up some Vitamin D. Recently, we introduced 'FriYAY Games' - weekly outdoor lawn games for all members of the College. We were delighted to see a high level of participation, with both students and staff engaging in a variety of games.
Among the various activities, the Giant Jenga, Smashball, and Jumbo Connect Four were particularly popular with the attendees. These types of activities are beneficial as they foster our school community and offer students an opportunity to release some energy in a positive way during the school week.
Engaging in these activities has several positive effects on students' overall well-being:
- A shift away from digital devices, allowing students to disconnect and breathe in fresh air.
- A chance to take a mental break, providing students with the opportunity to declutter their minds, reduce stress, and improve their mood.
- Enhancing social and emotional learning through teamwork, cooperation, and the development of valuable social skills – regardless of athletic ability.
- Promoting inclusivity and unity by creating a sense of togetherness where differences are put aside for camaraderie and enjoyment of the game.
- Boosting school spirit and pride, fostering a positive and supportive school environment.
And with this, outdoor lawn games offer more than just recreation. They contribute to physical fitness, mental health, and the development of social connections. They also teach valuable life skills and promote inclusivity, unity, and school pride. So, let's embrace the outdoors and engage in these games – it's an investment in our collective well-being and community spirit. All students and staff are welcome, and we’d love to see you there!
