School-wide Positive Behaviour Support

Gisborne Secondary College continues to implement a range of new initiatives under the framework of School-Wide Positive Behaviours Support (SWPBS). Below is a graphic which clearly highlights the 7 essential features of universal prevention, each one Gisborne Secondary College has put into place and continue to work on improving practice in.
Bully Stoppers Survey Tool
With respect to feature 6. Discouraging Inappropriate Behaviour and feature 7. Ongoing Monitoring, Year 9 students as part of their RAID program and parents will be invited to complete the Bully Stoppers Survey tool.
https://www.vic.gov.au/bully-stoppers-survey-tool
This tool is available to support principals, leaders and teachers gain an insight into the experiences and opinions of their school community about safety and wellbeing, including bullying in the school environment. There are surveys for students, teachers and parents/carers.
The College will review, analyse and share the results, in conjunction with other relevant school data (e.g. Attitudes to School Survey).
We will in turn be able to reflect upon the current state of play including community perspectives on bullying; the school's perceived ability to effectively prevent, manage and respond when issues/incidents arise; and identify any further work that could be done to improve the current school environment and bullying prevention policies.
