Homework Club: Supporting Student Progress and Success

Homework Club is up and running every Thursday afternoon, and we’re already seeing positive outcomes for the students who have attended. Designed to support students in completing Common Assessment Tasks (CATs) and important unfinished classwork, Homework Club plays a key role in helping students stay on track with their learning.

At Mickleham Secondary College, we hold high expectations for our students so they can achieve their best. When teachers enrol students in Homework Club, it is because completing this work is essential for demonstrating their learning and progress across their subjects.

Without the completion of CATs and key classwork, teachers may not have the evidence needed to make accurate judgments about a student’s progress in line with the Victorian Curriculum. This evidence is vital—not only for reporting but also for guiding students, families, and staff in identifying next steps for learning growth.

This is especially important for our Year 9 students, who are beginning to think about transition into our senior school. Whether they are aiming for university, TAFE, or a vocational pathway, they need to show they are ready for the next stage. Strong evidence of learning helps our teachers and careers coordinator support students in making informed choices and accessing the pathways that best suit their goals.

We’re proud of the students who are taking this opportunity seriously and encourage all enrolled students to attend and make the most of this valuable time.
