Principals Report

Welcome back to Term 2!

It’s with great excitement that I introduce myself as the new Relieving Principal at Glen Innes High School. From my first day, I have been warmly welcomed by staff and students alike. I am a proud supporter of public education and feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a school that values relationships, high expectations, and strong community connections. I look forward to working alongside you all to support every student to thrive.

I’d also like to take a moment to acknowledge Mrs Helen Millar, who did a fantastic job in the Relieving Principal role prior to my arrival. Her deep knowledge of Glen Innes High School and its community, along with her unwavering support and dedication, has been invaluable in ensuring a smooth transition. I know how highly regarded she is, and I’m grateful for the strong foundation she has helped build.

As we head into the cooler months, I’d like to remind families of the importance of wearing the correct school uniform. Students are expected to wear either a royal blue or navy-blue jumper with the school insignia, or a plain navy-blue jumper with no hood. Other colours and styles are not part of the school uniform and should not be worn. Wearing the correct uniform reflects pride in our school and helps create a sense of unity and belonging. If any families need uniform support, please contact the school – we’re here to help.

A reminder also about our school laptop program. This valuable resource is already heavily subsidised by the school, and it’s essential that families continue to make regular payments. These contributions are vital to keeping the program running and ensuring all students have access to the technology they need to succeed.

Glen Innes High School is a mobile phone-free school. Students must keep their phones in their bags from the moment they enter the school gates until the end of the school day. We ask for parents' support in reinforcing this expectation at home.

Let’s all remember that it doesn’t take much to show kindness and understanding to others. We want to support every student to succeed and feel valued. Please take the time to talk at home about our Glen Innes High School values – Respect, Responsibility and Diligence. By working together with mutual respect and shared commitment, we can ensure every student has a positive, successful pathway from school and beyond.

A heartfelt thank you to the students who represented our school so well during the ANZAC Day ceremony over the holidays and to those who volunteered their time to assist at the Celtic Festival last weekend – your efforts make us proud.

Lastly, we’re celebrating some impressive sporting success: congratulations to Ethan Graham for his selection into the Under 15's Great Western Rugby team and to Mary

Arandale, who has been selected in the Under 16's Girls Rugby League side to compete in the upcoming CHS tournament in Wollongong. We wish both students all the best!

Here’s to a successful and rewarding Term 2.
