Confirmation

On Wednesday 15th of May 54 of our Year 6 students were confirmed in St Patrick's Cathederal. It was a beautiful mass celebrated by our Father Arsenio and Rev Father Anthony Kerin.

Father Kerin spoke about the what the gifts of the spirit are and how they can be present in our lives.

Congratulations to all of our students, we look forward to accompanying you all on your faith journey and witnessing how these gifts can be lived at our school. You will also notice that our Grade 6 teacher Chris is in the photo. Congratulations to Chris as he was also confirmed on the night.

Last Sunday at the 9.00 am Mass we celebrated Father John’s 50th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood.  His Homily was about his life and how he felt a calling on his Communion Day when he was 7 years old.  We are very fortunate to have Fr John with us at Holy Spirit and as such we give thanks to God for his generous service to the Church over all those years and his dedication to this ministry.  Some members of his family were also in attendance.  After mass we celebrated with tea, coffee and a celebratory cake.

This Friday 24th May, there will be a whole school mass to celebrate “Spirit Day” in the Church.  All are welcome to attend.

What an exciting week it has been for our Confirmation Candidates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Patrick’s Cathedral last Wednesday.  Congratulations to all the candidates, their sponsors and of course their families.

This coming Saturday 25th May at the 6pm mass, there will be a special celebration with the children from Years 5/6.  At the end of Mass, the children will receive their Confirmation certificates and there will be a lovely supper of pizza, sausage rolls etc. to share with their friends and families.  All are most welcome to attend.

On Wednesday 29th May, Mass will be held in the Church at 9.15 am with the children from Year 2 level.  All family and friends are invited to join the children in this special celebration.

Lastly, don’t forget the Biggest Morning Tea to raise funds for cancer research will be held on Friday 31st May from 9am – 12 noon in the Community Centre.  If you can donate a cake, jams or other goodies, they would be greatly received and appreciated.  Donations can be dropped off at the Parish House from Thursday 27th May or on Friday morning direct to the Hall.  Let’s raise a cuppa and have fun together!
