On Wednesday, 22nd May, students at St Margaret Mary’s participated in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS). This is an annual event held by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), where a picture book by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in schools and libraries across the country. This fun event promotes and celebrates the value of literacy and reading, whilst addressing key learning areas of the National Curriculum.
This year, the book chosen was ‘Bowerbird Blues’ by Aura Parker. Our students thoroughly enjoyed listening to this wonderful story and took part in various activities related to it.
Also, Congratulations to our four library monitors, Charli, Natalie, Amelia and Aanush from Year Five, who have now received their Library Badges. These students volunteer their time to: help other students locate books, borrow and return books, place books back on the shelves and keep the library tidy. Thank you for the great job that you do.
Additionally, it is fantastic to see that some students have already completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) for this year. Just a reminder that the PRC closes on Friday, 23rd August. So you still have time to complete the challenge and enjoy reading while you do it!
