School Athletics – Tuesday 28th May

The year 3-6 students had an amazing day at Tom Kelly Athletics track where they competed across 8 events.

A big thank you to all parents and teachers who assisted on the day.

District Athletics isn’t until term 3, so the team will be released at a later day.

Division Cross Country – Thursday 30th May

ENPS had 17 runners compete at this stage which was held at Bundoora Park and all did an amazing job.

Six have now progressed to the Regional Finals in Kilmore held on June 19th.

We wish them all the best!

Science

What a great Term 2 we are having in the science room learning about Earth Science.

Foundation students have been learning about weather, different temperatures and different types of clouds. They have even made wind anemometers to test if there is a little or a lot of wind.

Grade 1’s have been learning about the day and night sky, and why we don’t see the stars during the day. They have learnt about landscapes, and how seasons can change landscapes, including how plants and animals behave differently.

Grade 2 students have been learning about the Earth’s resources, and in collaborative learning groups researched how foods such as rice, potatoes, milk and wheat get from the farms to the shops. They then presented their learnings with their classmates.

Grade 3 have explored the size of the Earth, Moon and Sun, and how the Earth’s rotation causes day and night. Students have explored shadows and built sundials to investigate what happens to shadows during the day as the Earth rotates.

Grade 4 ~ Our unit on weathering and erosion of the Earth’s surface began with a study of the rock cycle, and students investigated soils; what makes up soil, their texture, and how absorbent they are.

Grade 5 & 6 students have been investigating geological events like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. There have been many hands-on activities simulating these events!
