Year 6 Newsletter

Dear parents and carers,

What a busy term it has been! We have had lots of fun school-wide events lately, and this week was no different. On Tuesday we had our Athletics Day. A big thank you to all of the parents that came out to help. Our Year 6 students  certainly enjoyed their last primary school athletics.

This week in Year 6

Maths: This week we looked at multiplying and dividing by powers of 10, whilst revising prime and composite numbers. Consistent revision of content is proving very important and beneficial for our students.

Reading: We have been amazed by how all the students are really engaged with Literacy Circles. Week 4 meetings are running next week. Please continue to support your child in this area at home when needed. Reading should be completed at home and this can be recorded in reading diaries.

Writing: We have worked on constructing strong arguments in our writing, and looked at the elements which go into creating a strong argument. We also completed a persuasive big write with the topic ‘The best superpower to have is rewind’.

Inquiry: This week we looked at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective on Federation. In particular we looked at the 1967 Referendum and created posters where we used our persuasive skills from writing to convince Australians to vote yes in the Referendum.
