Dear parents,

What a great day we had on Tuesday for our years 3 to 6 Athletics Carnival. It was great to see so many ENPS students challenging themselves and competing in events. The sun was shining and it was a great day to be active outdoors.

Year 4 Excursion - Indigenous Landscapes Tour, Thursday 13th June:

Our excursion is fast approaching and we are so excited. Some important information follows:

If you have not yet done so, please see Compass for event information and provide payment and consent ASAP.
On the day, we need to be in the City by 10.30am, so we are asking that all students arrive at their classroom by 8.30am as we are expecting to depart for Eltham Station by 8.45am SHARP.
Students will be carrying their backpack all day so they will need to bring a small backpack with snacks, lunch, drinks and a waterproof jacket. PLEASE NOTE the walking tour will go ahead despite the weather.
We will be returning to school via train, at approx 2pm. We will depart from Flinders Street Station and travel to Eltham Station. Following this, we will walk from Eltham Station back to ENPS, returning prior to 3.30pm.

Please Note: You WILL be able to collect your child from Eltham Station at the end of the excursion. We will send a Compass alert to families once we know our exact arrival times.

What's happened in year 4 this week?

English – This week in Writing the students got creative with writing engaging sentence openers that hooked readers in. We have planned our narratives and it has been great to see and hear their story ideas. In our grammar and spelling lessons we have investigated quotation marks and the sufffix ‘ly’.

Maths – This week we have continued to revise multiplication facts up to 10 × 10, related division facts, and number sequences involving multiples of 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

Inquiry – ‘How did the arrival of the first fleet impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders?’ This week concludes the ‘theory component’ of our term 2 Inquiry Unit. We investigated some of the diaries and journals from European Explorers, Settlers, and Convicts. The diaries and journals were describing their journeys and discoveries after arriving in Australia, including their early descriptions and first impressions of Aboriginal people. Next week we will begin our project presentation, followed by our excursion in week 9.

Tuesday Activity Afternoons- We now have 2 weeks to go (Tuesday 4th & 11th June). Thank you again to all our parents and grandparents who have been involved. It is certainly becoming a highlight of our term.

At Home Project - Students should have completed their research. It is now time to be preparing for their presentation and writing their cue cards to be ready to present their projects next week - week 8 (beginning Monday 3rd June). By

Homework - Homework this week continues to consist of:

Minimum 4 nights reading with at least 80 minutes per week recorded in school diary (Book title, pages read, minutes read).
Diary is to be brought to school each Thursday signed by parents.
At home project - Students should now be completing their presentations ready to present next week.
Mathletics tasks are not compulsory but we have set students tasks to complete if they wish. Students may be awarded mathletics certificates at our level assembly.
