Hands on Learning

Kara and Mr Robinson

Hands on Learning has taken off in Term 2 and our precinct and shipping container are abuzz with activity.

We welcome Cameron Robinson to the role of artisan teacher, and we also have 2 new students joining us.

So far, we have been cleaning up our site, weeding and replanting and some of the students have been refurbishing our tired and worn work benches.

We’ve had Ms Rough join us to help name our fruit and vegetable plants in French and Mr Mohammadsaeedi and Laurie from Learning Support as our lunch guests. Speaking of lunches, by the time this newsletter goes to press we would have had a try of ‘roo’ burgers (and/or beef or vegie burgers, depending how adventurous our students are).

Last week Mia planted a blueberry, strawberries and a herb garden and we will be putting in some winter vegetables in the coming week. Harry has been fixing the fence and Nate and Nixen have completed their name and birthday boards.

Some of our plans for the future include knitting, an excursion to Platinum Institute, developing our construction skills, landscaping the Yarning Circle we helped build in 2023 with bush tucker or indigenous plants? Or Both? and several other projects around the school. We might need to hone our cooking and photography skills as well. Watch this space….
