Co-curricular

Appointment of Winter Captains

At last Friday’s assembly it was with great pride that I announced the Winter captains for the upcoming season. These individuals have not only showcased remarkable prowess in their respective co-curricular activities but have also demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in all facets of College life.

Chess Captain: Anthony Karnaout

Anthony has been a cornerstone of the Chess Squad since its revival in 2022. His consistent performance at the top level, coupled with his excellent sportsmanship and dedication to honing his skills, has set him apart. Beyond the confines of our school, he actively seeks out external competitions, showcasing his passion and commitment to the game. With unwavering dedication and unmatched drive, Anthony is undoubtedly deserving of the title as our inaugural Chess Captain.

Debating Captain: Luke Bromfield

Luke's passion for debating is undeniable, matched only by his natural inclination to lead. He not only excels in his own performance but also takes charge of his peers with respect and guidance. His ability to keep his team focused and his willingness to listen to advice from coaches make him a standout leader. Luke's infectious enthusiasm for debating and his commitment to improving himself and his team make him the ideal candidate for this position.

Football Captain: Matteo Vaccaro

Matteo's journey through the College’s Football program typifies dedication and talent. Prioritising the College from his early years, he showcased his prowess as a skilled player in the As from Years 5 to 10. Representing prestigious NPL clubs and earning spots in the Metropolitan East Team and NSW representation, Matteo's talent garnered attention. He excelled in ISA and CIS championships, upholding the College's reputation with distinction. His leadership qualities shine through strategic thinking, quick decision-making, and unity-inspiring abilities.

Rugby Captain: Alex Conti

Alex is an exceptional young man who excels both on the rugby field and as a student leader. He has represented his state in Rugby Union, Rugby League, and Touch Football, showcasing his versatility and skill across different codes. As part of the leadership group for both the West Tigers and Canterbury Bulldogs, Alex has demonstrated his leadership qualities consistently throughout all outside club teams and College rugby teams. He has been a mainstay in the College's First XV since his selection in Year 9. Alex has shown exemplary commitment to the College in several areas and is a worthy recipient of the Captain of Rugby for 2024.

Tennis Captain: Kieran Low

Kieran embodies dedication and contribution within our Tennis community, having been a pivotal part of our College's tennis journey since Year 5. Beyond his own playing career, he selflessly joined the coaching team in 2022, nurturing the talent of our Junior School A and B teams. Kieran's impact on the development of younger players is undeniable, as he shares his extensive knowledge with passion and patience. Kieran's tennis journey underscores his growth and talent on the court. His unwavering dedication, both as a player and mentor, has significantly contributed to the success of our Tennis fraternity.

Cultural Co-curricular – Performance

There are a lot of positive things happening in Performance Co-curricular!

Theatresports

What is theatresports you may ask?

Theatresports is a type of performance where teams create and perform (improvise) a scene on the spot using a prompt from the judges they have never heard before. It relies on quick thinking, performance skills and amazing team work to pull off one of these scenes. It is very challenging and the result is usually highly comedic.

The amazing talents of our Intermediate and Senior teams have seen them both secure places in the semifinals. Both semifinals are being held in the Robson Auditorium at 7:00 PM - Intermediate on Wednesday (tonight) and Senior on Thursday (tomorrow night). Congratulations to Xavier Amalan, George Avakoumides, Michael Bridge, Lucas Burnicle, Max D’Ambrosio, Pablo Doherty, Isaac Edmonds, Declan Giles, and Simon Khoury.
