Prayer

Prayer, essentially, is a conversation... But who exactly are we talking with?

For Christians, it is a conversation with God, our loving Father who sent His Son Jesus to redeem us. Jesus’ death and resurrection restored our relationship with God. Jesus removed the obstacles that kept us apart from him. He gifted us his name, by which we can now freely speak with God. Prayer is talking with the One who knows us most and loves us best!

Prayer isn’t restricted to a specific time or place. God is on call, at any time of the day or night. He longs to connect with us, his precious loved ones. Jesus himself, as busy as he was, paused to spend time his Father in prayer.

Picture yourself holding hands with God, creator of the universe, whose heart is soft towards you. You are able to share anything with him, your highs, your lows and everything in between.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

There are times when I do this well. I hand over my concerns to God and feel good, confident that he is handling the situation. But at other times, I find myself taking those same concerns back... then adding a little worry to the mix. Needless to say, it doesn’t help in the least!

Prayer is about handing things over to God and then trusting that he is big and strong enough to deal with it... then resting in that assurance... allowing God to work out the finer details.

There are some amazing stories of people in the bible who prayed. While some of them endured challenging circumstances, they put their trust and confidence in God.

From James 5:13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. NIV

What would you like to talk with God about today?

God bless your week!
