Yesterday most of the year fives went on camp to Sovereign Hill. It was a fun yet exhausting camp. We did lots of things, such as going to a wildlife park, gold panning and much more. Some of the favourite things we did were going down in a 24 metre deep mine and panning for gold. There was a dangerous machine inside of the mines. It is said if you worked with it for 6 months you would go deaf. When we went to pan for gold we were told what to use. We used a shovel and a gold pan. The shovel was used to dig up space for us to pan gold. Some people found some little tiny specs, although some found more than others. Year 5 camp was a really fun experience.

On Tuesday I was  at camp and we did lots of fun stuff and activities. My favourite thing was the mine tour. We got down the mine by riding on a cool cart that went very slowly, only 2 k's an hour. When we were riding down it got so dark that we couldn't even see our hands right in front of our face! We saw how the miners got into the mine and out of the mine. Then we saw real gold in the wall! It was very shiny. Then we moved on and saw a machine that was very loud and if you used it for 6 months every day, then you would go deaf. We walked along more and saw a mine created by only 2 men in three years, and they found at least 500,000 dollars of gold. They left a gold pillar there because if they tore it down then the whole mine would collapse. At the end of the tour, we walked along a skinny passage and went back up the same way except backwards. That was everything we did on the mine tour.
