YR 7 Readers' Cup

With much excitement we launched the 2024 Year 7 Readers’ Cup last week.

We value reading and want to get the students excited about reading too. Reading has many benefits for students, from inspiring the imagination to improving academic abilities. When students embrace the importance of reading, they can reach their full potential.

The Readers’ Cup will be awarded to the Year 7 English class that reads the most amount of pages. They will also be writing short Book Reviews via our Library Home Page accessed on Compass. The challenge is on, stay tuned for update as the Readers’ Cup progresses.

Happy reading!

Year 8 Home Economics

The Year 8 Home Economics classes have been learning how to make lots of quick, simple and healthy meals that they can make for their families at home. Recently pizza was on the menu which was a big hit with everyone. We made the pizza dough from scratch and the students could choose their favourite toppings to put on the pizzas. We also made some choc chip cookies, but discussed how they are a sometimes food and need to be shared with family and friends.

Susan McLean- Cyber Safety

On Tuesday 14th May Susan McLean returned to the Academy and presented sessions to our Year 9 and an evening session to Year 7 students and parents about cyber safety. Technology continues to be a big part of all of lives and therefore being educated on the laws, safety tips and guidance for both students and parents provides everyone knowledge on how to use technology safely.

If you would like anymore information that Susan McLean spoke about, please go to her website.
