Netball Report – Year 6 Team

On Friday 17 May, the Numurkah PS Year 6 played against Katunga PS. In the first quarter Katunga shot two goals to our three; we were off to a terrific start! Eloise made some excellent centre passes and Myllah’s goal shooting was amazingly accurate. In the second quarter Katunga pulled ahead of us by one goal; we moved the ball down in our goal circle a couple of times and put up a good fight but we were one down going into the third quarter.

Katunga scored another two goals next quarter to our one. Skylah danced across the court, intercepting the ball as she went. In the final quarter Sieanna was Wing defence and Mackenzie was Goal Keeper and worked hard to stop Katunga from scoring. Katunga scored five goals and our team scored two goals.

The end result was 6-9 their way.

On the 17th of May 2024, Numurkah Primary School played Katunga Primary School at the Katunga Football Oval. We had a ripper game dominating in the first half with Kelvin kicking our first goal. Katunga kicked 9 points in the third quarter, we kicked 2 goals 3 points. The last quarter was a redemption for the third quarter, kicking 4 goals, 1 point being our most accurate quarter so far in the season. Winter Sports Numurkah V Cobram

Year 6 Netball Report – NPS v Cobram PS

Friday 24 May, the year six Numurkah Netball Team played a netball match against Cobram  Primary School.

In the first quarter, Numurkah started strong and bagged three goals thanks to excellent teamwork and Myllah’s smooth shooting as our Goal Attack.

In the second quarter Mackenzie was Goal Shooter and Myllah remained in Goal Attack. These two girls worked wonderfully together to get the ball down to the goal ring, and scored a whooping four goals. Our bounce passes were a standout feature of our game tactics in this quarter.

Third quarter rolled around and we were still staying strong with Stevie scoring four goals and Dayeisha in Centre helping the team to get the ball down to the ring. Myllah got another three goals in the ring this quarter.

In the final quarter, with Larna as Goal Shooter and Mackenzie as Goal Attack and Indy getting the ball to pass it on to them, we continued our winning streak.

Highlights:

We got the ball down to the goal ring a lot more than in previous games.  We spread out across the court so we had many more options to pass the ball instead of squashing up like a bunch of grapes. Our goal shooting was much more accurate this game also.

The score for the Year Six netball match against Cobram PS was 19 to 5 our way.

Cobram Vs Numurkah Footy Report

This is the footy report from the game played against Cobram Primary School on the 24th of May 2024.

In the second quarter, Jacob put himself on the scoreboard again, with war horse Kayden kicking one goal putting us in lead by 7 and the scores being 15 to 22 our way at the main break.

In the second half we had a ripper of a quarter in the third we were up by 18 all because of Mr. Smith’s amazing speech to us at half time he said we should we need to switch up switch the scores over that’s what we did finishing the game at 28 – 45 our way.

The star players for this game were: Lenny, Zavier A, Jake E, Levi, Kelvin, Elijah A and emerging backline general Jacob M

An excellent game Numurkah good job!

Prep/1 Story Time - Bowerbird Blues

On Wednesday the 22nd of May all students at NPS participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. The Junior Learning Community were very excited to be reading the story Bower Bird Blues at exactly the same time as 2.6 million other students around Australia. After the story we ventured outside and became real life Bower Birds looking for all things blue. We collected many interesting things and then brought them back into the classroom and completed a craft activity. It was lots of fun!
