Reconciliation Week Bake Sale - Thursday 6th June

Dear APS Families,

We are Arabella, Eve, Alastair, Gus and Sienna from Year 6 and we are the School Events Action Team.

As mentioned above, we are doing a fundraiser to commemorate Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week on Thursday the 6th of June. We will be selling cupcakes. There will be chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and all cupcakes will be nut, diary, and gluten free.

NB: WE WILL USE SOY MILK.

Please see the ingredients and dietary information below and contact your child’s teacher if you have any concerns.

Please note we will be also using soy milk, Nuttelex, eggs, gluten free icing sugar and food colouring.

Students will only be allowed to purchase 1 cupcake so everyone has an opportunity to purchase one. The fundraiser will occur at the beginning of lunch and be held in the canteen.

Money from our fundraiser will go to a charity called Red Dust. Red Dust is an organisation based in Melbourne that aims to improve health, build resilience and strengthen the future of Indigenous youth and families. They also provide Reconciliation programs where they support all Australians to share cultural knowledge and move to a better future together.

Thank you for your support and a reminder that if your child would like to donate they can do so on Thursday the 6th of June. Please bring $2 if you are interested in buying a cupcake.

Yours sincerely,

Events Action Team

STEM Club Update

By Lina and Evie 6M

STEM Club offers students in either Year 5 or 6 an opportunity to explore their enthusiasm for STEM activities every Wednesday during lunchtime. STEM, or STEAM, stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, (Art), and Mathematics.

Currently we are in the process of designing and crafting the 3D car body using Tinkercad, a 3D design app. Exploring the world of a 3D design software like Tinkercad to create intricate designs can help students to overcome artistic and structural challenges.

Every team is at their own special part of the journey. The different inspirations for the cars have been drawn from various sources, and we have plenty of creative ideas to explore. Soon we will be prepared to start 3D printing the car and get ready for the race.

We also went to the F1 car races to further enhance our knowledge of aerodynamic cars, and to give us further inspiration.

The journey into STEM has proven to be an enjoyable, challenging and fantastic experience so far, and we can’t wait to do more fun and challenging activities!

This is our design on  tinkercad.

Biggest Morning Tea - Thank you

Hi A.P.S. families,

Our names are Rani and Tallulah and as you may know last Thursday was the A.P.S. Biggest Morning Tea. We highly appreciate those who bought a cup for juice or a piece of fruit. The money we raised will be donated to the Cancer Council.

Melissa was the real star because she helped with her incredible juice pouring skills, and a special mention to Shane who helped with buying all the products in his spare time. We raised plenty of money and we were really proud of ourselves.

In total we raised, ‘Drum roll please,’ ....$463.50

That's more than double the money last year!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who got involved and another special mention to our group of grade 6 helpers. We also would like to thank parents for supporting us in our last year at this school. It was our last chance to do it.

Overall, thankyou and we hope that someone will carry this on next year and raise even more money.
