Kindergarten - Jacqueline Pribilovics

This term Kindergarten will participate in a 15 minute Mandarin lesson each Friday. These lessons are presented by an on-line tutor from MEG languages.

Kindergarten loved meeting Gu Li Mandarin teacher and have already learnt how to say hello and goodbye in Mandarin.

Year 1 - Danielle McClure and Eva Clinton

We welcome Miss Aikita Jarrah who is joining us for 3 weeks. Miss Jarrah is studying teaching and has hit the jackpot by joining our Year 1 class. This week, Miss Jarrah has been helping myself and Miss Clinton with the reading and writing lessons each day.

A focus for reading this week is sounding out nonsense words by blending sounds together. Year 1 students statewide are being assessed throughout the year on their ability to decode nonsense words. Take a look at some of the words they are decoding - not an easy task, that’s for sure!

Year 2 - Aoife Geraghty

The Year Two students have been busy this past week with various maths and science activities. They have been using Bee Bots to practise giving directions and navigation in Science. Additionally, we are focusing on procedure writing in English, with students creating excellent pieces on topics such as ‘how to wash your hands’ and ‘how to clean a dirty jumper’. The students are using imperative verbs and diligently double-checking their punctuation and spelling! Well done Year Two!

Year 3 - Hannah Jory & Peter Mallos

WEEK 4 - Novel Studies

This term Year 3 have begun their Novel Study. In Reading Groups, students will be exploring classic texts such as Charlotte’s Web, Fantastic Mr Fox and James and the Giant Peach. Through the novel studies, students will have an opportunity to foster their own love of reading as well as an opportunity to expand their vocabulary and continue to develop their comprehension skills.

Year 4 - Bella Abruzzese

In Term 2, Year 4 will begin receiving their ‘Pen Licences.’ These will be awarded to those students who are practising their cursive handwriting and doing their very neatest work in all subjects. Congratulations to Emilia Lynch and Shraddha Thakur for receiving their Pen Licenses this week (the first of the year!). I am looking forward to seeing more blue and black pens throughout the year.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Stage 3 - Anna Kelly & Laura Courtenay

In our daily review in writing, Stage 3 students are working on using new vocabulary and varied sentence structure to enhance their writing. In this session they had to correctly use the word, towering.

Students have also been working on their STEM rubber band car project. Last week students did their final tests on their cars and recorded the average distance their car travelled. Some cars need a little work and some cars exceeded all expectations.
