What’s been happening at DASH!

Last week children were able to participate in a stem craft activity exploring air contraction and expansion. Children designed a character using a paper cup and craft materials. A small hole was made in the cup. Next a balloon was threaded through leaving a small portion of the balloon outside the cup to create their cup character’s nose. The balloon was then inflated and children were able to push down on the balloon inside the cup making the portion of the balloon outside of the cup expand and contract.

Children also further enhanced their fine motor skills by making some amazing, colourful and creative melt bead designs.

In the kitchen children also helped cook a batch of delicious jam drop cookies and pancakes. During free play time children took the opportunity to communicate and worked together to complete challenging jigsaws and imaginative animal set ups.
