WINTER FOOD APPEAL

As we near the end of May, the signs of winter’s arrival are all around us—shorter days, chilly mornings, and the welcome return of beanies, boots, scarves, and gloves. It's also the season for cosy comfort foods like hearty soups, baked potatoes, and mugs of steaming hot chocolate.

Winter is a time that naturally draws our thoughts inward, but it’s also an opportunity to look outward—to consider how we might support those in our community who are doing it tough. With that spirit in mind, next week we will be launching the Mini Vinnies Winter Food Appeal.

Our school community has a strong tradition of generosity and has consistently supported the Mentone chapter of the St Vincent de Paul Society through initiatives such as the second-hand uniform shop and our Christmas hampers. We’re now inviting families to help once again by donating non-perishable food items to assist local families in need during the colder months.

Each classroom will have a collection basket where students can place their donations. Below is a list of suggested items that are most needed:

  • Canned soup and vegetables
  • Canned tuna and salmon
  • Pasta sauces – (no pasta – we have plenty in store)
  • Tomato sauce
  • Noodles
  • Baked beans and tinned spaghetti
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate (no coffee pods)
  • Biscuits (sweet & savoury) and muesli bars
  • Condiments such as peanut butter, vegemite, honey and jam
  • Cordial and non-perishable fruit juices
  • Treats such as chocolate, chips and bags of lollies
  • Also items such as shampoo, conditioner and tissues

Every donation, no matter how small, helps make a big difference. Thank you in advance for your kindness and support in helping us share warmth and nourishment this winter.

PARISH CHILDREN'S CHOIR

This Sunday at the 5pm Mass at St Patrick's, we are excited to welcome the debut performance of our newly formed Parish Children's Choir!

This choir is a heartfelt project led by our former music teacher, whose dedication to enriching our worship through music continues even in retirement. Mrs Earle's  passion and commitment have brought this beautiful initiative to life.  We warmly invite you to join us for Mass and show your support for these young voices. And if your child enjoys singing, why not consider getting them involved in this wonderful opportunity?
