Principals' Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Congratulations to our Year 3–6 students on a highly successful Inter-House Athletics Carnival held on Wednesday. A special commendation to Stella House for emerging as the overall winners in what was a closely contested event.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Edwards, our dedicated PE teacher and sports coordinator, for his outstanding organisation in preparing the carnival. We also wish to acknowledge and thank all St. Patrick’s staff for their tireless efforts on the day, which ensured the smooth running and success of the event.

For official results and final standings, please refer to the detailed report later in this newsletter.

Congratulations also to Mr Edwards who represented Australia at the Trans Tasman Masters Hockey Championships.  Australia won the test series vs New Zealand, winning 2 tests to 0. Australia won 9-1, drew 1-1 and then won 8-0. Mr Edwards was also appointed as co-captain for Australia throughout the tournament, an amazing effort.

St. Patrick's GEM Day

Next Monday we are celebrating our first GEM Day at St. Patrick's School. This special day highlights the core themes of Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness—key pillars students have been engaging with through The Resilience Project as part of their wellbeing curriculum.

Since the introduction of the program, students have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of caring for their mental health. Through regular practise of GEM strategies, they are learning how small, intentional actions—like expressing gratitude, demonstrating empathy, and staying present—can have a powerful impact. These simple yet meaningful habits are equipping them with valuable skills to enhance their emotional wellbeing and build long-term resilience.

Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite superhero or wear GEM colours (orange/yellow, purple and green)

Exciting Progress on the Junior Playground

I'm pleased to share an update on the Junior Playground project. Installation is scheduled for early to mid-Term 3, likely during the first or second week of August. In preparation, we’ll be working on dismantling the old chook pen and tidying the surrounding area to ensure everything is ready for the next stage.

We are on track for a grand opening around the middle of Term 3, and we look forward to celebrating this new space with our school community, in particular, our Prep to Year 2 students.

A special thank you goes to our SRC representatives from Prep to Year 6, who played a key role in helping to choose the playground elements. The colour scheme has been carefully selected to match the senior playground, which was installed over the summer, to create a cohesive and visually appealing play area.
