District Cross Country
On Tuesday 20th May, our enthusiastic and determined POPS Cross Country team represented our school with pride at the Ringwood District Cross Country Carnival, held at Quambee Reserve. This annual event brings together eight local schools from across the district, including state, Catholic, and private schools. Our students competed against peers from Holy Spirit, Warranwood, Tintern Grammar, Ringwood North, Tinternvale, Sacred Heart, and Dorset.
We had 60 students from Years 3 to 6 take part, competing across six different age groups: 12/13-year-old boys and girls, 11-year-old boys and girls, and 9/10-year-old boys and girls. The challenging course began and ended at Quambee Reserve, featuring a tough uphill climb, loops around sports ovals, a section past the pony club, and a final push back up the hill to the finish line. The 12/13 and 11-year-olds ran a 2.7 km course, while the 9/10-year-olds tackled a 2 km track.
Although the morning started out chilly, the weather soon turned perfect for running, and the sunshine added to the vibrant and competitive atmosphere of the day.
We are thrilled to share that our school placed 3rd overall in the district — an incredible achievement! We also celebrate the amazing results of the following students who finished in the top 12 of their respective races — an outstanding accomplishment given each race had up to 80 participants!

A huge congratulations to all our runners who participated in District. Your dedication, sportsmanship, team spirit, and resilience were outstanding.
Special thanks to Beatrix's mum, Susan, for volunteering on the course and to the many parents and grandparents who came along to support and cheer on our team. Thank you also to those who helped with transport and logistics. Lastly, a big thank you to Miss Munforte, Miss Grigg, and Mrs Puckering for their valuable support on the day.
