Education Week - A Celebration of Cultures

Thank you to our teachers for opening the doors to their classrooms for Education Week and to all the parents who made the time to visit. It was great to see parents involved in classroom and specialist learning on Tuesday afternoon.

As part of Education Week, on Wednesday many classes participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, reading the text The Truck Cat, which linked closely to this years theme of a celebration of cultures. This is a story about cats and humans, immigration and identity, and homes lost and found. Along with his human Yacoub, Tinka travels roads wide and narrow, near and distant. But no matter how much they travel, home feels very far away – for both of them. When Tinka and Yacoub are unexpectedly separated, they are determined to find their way back to each other.

Tomorrow morning is the last day for the Book Fair. It will be open in the library from 8:30-9:30am. All students have now had the opportunity to visit the book fair and see what is on offer for them this year.

Our acknowledgement of culture will continue in the next fortnight as we recognise Reconciliation week at our whole school assembly next week.

District Cross Country

Well done to our District Cross Country Squad of 60 students who ran in district cross country at Quambee Reserve on Tuesday Afternoon. All students put in their best efforts, pushing hard for the finish line. Eleven of our students who placed in the top 12 for their age group will be going through to division, the next round. Thank you to Mrs Yorke and Mr Butcher for all their organisation with training and preparation for the day.

Car Parking

Our school will be implementing new processes in the school drive through.  The processes associated with the drop off in the morning (8am-9.15am) will remain unchanged.

Between 9.15am-3pm this area will be Visitor Parking.

From 3pm - 3.45pm it will be Permit Parking

Regarding the issuing of permits, the school will be providing them to families that have additional needs, which may include; mobility, social or unique family circumstances. This will strictly be at the schools discretion. Families are invited to apply to the office via nicole.mattingley@education.vic.gov.au (*Parents with existing  Government issued Accessible Parking Permits are exempt from needing to apply to the school).

National Volunteer Week

This week is National Volunteer Week which celebrates the power of volunteering to bring people together. Volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthen communities. We would like to thank all the members of the community who volunteer their time and skill set to support the CHPS community.
