Year 1 & 2

Around our level

Literacy

Over the past 2 weeks, students have been reading books about Dinosaurs on Epic. We have taken notes about where they lived, what they ate, what they looked like, and any specific features. Students then created a labelled diagram on Google Drawings that we are going to use on our posters. The Year 2 students helped the Year 1 students as they used Google Drawings for the first time.

We can’t wait for our Melbourne Museum excursion next week, where we will hopefully see the dinosaur that we have been learning about!

Numeracy

During our Numeracy lessons, we have been revising time. Our focus has been on the duration of time and how we can measure time using informal units. We completed tasks, such as writing the numbers 1-10 and compared it to how long it takes when tying a shoelace.

Reconciliation Week

We have continued our work on Reconciliation Week and we used the text ‘Wilam’ to discuss the Indigenous names that our native animals have. We coloured in pictures of these animals, then added the Indigenous names. You can see them displayed in our Junior corridor or in our classrooms.
