Grade 1 News

Grade 1 students had a wonderful week exploring length and participating in the Potato Olympics in each class! Students used a range of informal measurements to measure the distances their potatoes went in lots of different events, like running (rolling), javelin, bowling, balance beam and the most exciting event- SHOT PUT- ato.  

In Literacy, students have been enjoying reading the story ‘The Pencil,’ this wonderful book has sparked lots of thinking about everyday items and writing about some creative ways they can be used. Students have been exploring trigraphs, /igh/ and digraphs in spelling and word work.  

In Geography, students have been exploring their place in the world. 

In Religion students have been looking at Pentecost and how the Holy Spirit is in our lives.
