Grade 5 News

What another great fortnight of learning!

In Literacy, we’ve dived into an exciting new novel, Dirarrn,  the sequel to our much-loved Black Cockatoo

Students are hooked as they follow Mia’s journey at boarding school and discover what life is like for her away from her Country.

Alongside this novel, we’re exploring the fascinating true story of Jandamarra, a legendary resistance fighter from the Kimberley region.

Students are now stepping into the storyteller’s shoes, crafting their own versions of his incredible life in the form of a factual recount.

In Mathematics we have are continuing to learn all about decimals.

Students have been renaming and comparing numbers with up to three decimal places and putting these on a number line.

Next week, we begin a new topic – probability!

It has been wonderful to see so many avid readers bringing in their Reading Logs – keep it up!

Interschool sports is well underway with a lot of excitement about this in the senior area. We have been impressed with the willingness of students to encourage, umpire and try new positions or skills.

Please see the draw below for the next 2 games.
