2025 School Council

Dear Parents,

Exciting news everyone. As part of the recent state budget, Mackellar Primary School will receive just over $500,000 to refurbish toilets at the school. I think we can all agree that the toilets in the main building are in dire need of an upgrade, and it is wonderful to see the state government agrees. Natalie Hutchins MP and state member for Sydenham visited the school on Friday May 30th to officially make the announcement.

Whilst works will not commence immediately, they will start this year with the project finished by the end of term two, 2026. This is in no small part thanks to the hard work of members of school council who have been lobbying for this for some time. It also adds to our longstanding improvement agenda which has been a focus for council for some years. Well done to all involved.

Also improved recently are our outside areas thanks to some great work and ideas from our Junior School Council. Whilst students had the curriculum day and King's Birthday away from school, we had workers installing outdoor chess boards, snakes and ladders, Mr. Wolf and hopscotch in the playground areas to add opportunities for students at recess and lunch. Our senior school PLAY Leaders can add this to the group of activities they assist with so everyone learns how to use them.

If you are around the school soon, why not pop in, have a go at hopscotch and test your skills from days gone by.

Take care,
