Co-curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

It seems like this wet weather just won’t go away. Heavy rain over the past week has put a dampener (pardon the pun) on weekend fixtures and training. This has left many teams with only a small number of games played over the first three weeks. For some unlucky teams, that are yet to play. Fingers crossed the clouds part, the sun shines and we get a little wind to dry out all the grounds.

Considering the amount of training and game time lost, decisions will now be made on training cancellations after 2:30 PM. This is in an effort to keep as many teams as possible training of an afternoon. Light rain will see training continue, with a commonsense approach taken to wet weather. Decisions on games will be made early Saturday morning, between 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM. This should give everyone enough warning prior to leaving to most venues on a Saturday. All announcements will come through the College App and be prefaced with “Junior School”. It is hope that by taking this approach we are able to keep training on and continue the development of the boys and challenge them at the weekend.

A reminder that the weekly draw will now be emailed to students, rather than placed in their classrooms as a hard copy. The draw will also be published on the app for parents/ carers and on the College Website.

Our cultural Co-curricular groups have started their competitions with both Debating and Chess having completed their first rounds. Debating has recorded a 50-50 split of wins and losses in their opening two rounds. While the Chess players have also represented the College well in their opening rounds of games. We wish them well as their competition season continues to progress.

Towards the end of this week a number of Year 6 students will be involved in the IPSHA Rugby Union trials at Shore playing fields. We wish these boys well and look forward to hearing of your experiences.

Sign up for the House Athletics Carnival Championship events has now closed. Lists are currently being compiled and trials for High Jump, Shot Put and Discus will commence shortly. Trials will be held after school on college grounds. Athletics trials will take precedence over winter sport training and clashes with training will be avoided where possible. Boys will where their PE uniform for the trials.

With Round 4 kicking off this weekend, a reminder that as representatives of St Patick’s College, we play hard, compete until the final whistle and are respectful to our opposition, refs and spectators alike. Most importantly, go out and have some fun, making memories as we go.
