In what was a huge day of hosting sport for SPC here at the College, I would like to thank all involved for making it such a fantastic day. The Year 11 supporters brought so much energy and positivity to the day, so too did the staff that spent their Saturday cheering on with them. The P&F barbeque was fantastic as per usual and the effort displayed by students on the field was exceptional.
Some very positive results in Football over the weekend, none more impressive than our 8-nil victory over St Andrew’s. Thank you once again to the Year 11 boys for creating such a fantastic atmosphere.
I must acknowledge and congratulate three of our students—Alessandro Piccin, Sebastian Lombardo, and Cristian Lombardo—on their selection to represent the ISA in the NSW CIS Secondary Boys U18s Football Championships. The scheduled event will take place next week on Tuesday 27 May and Wednesday 28 May at Wanderers Football Park. Their selection is a testament to their hard work and dedication to Football at the College.
While there were some very large deficits, taking on quality opposition will make us stronger going forward. A huge shout out to the 14 A and 16 A Rugby teams who both were successful against St Augustine’s College which is a fantastic result for our College and demonstrates the quality that we have in those age groups. Well done to all involved.
I would like to acknowledge Jack Taylor who has been successful in making the NSWCIS Swimming Team to compete this Thursday 22 May at the NSW All School Swimming Championships, where he will be competing in the 100m Freestyle event. Well done and best of luck Jack!
Cross Country was fortunately one of the few sporting events not to be cancelled due to the weather. The team ran again at Upjohn Park, this time hosted by Cranbrook School and Knox Grammar School. The team ran well, improving upon their times earlier in the Season. Special mention goes to Benjamin Proszenko, who placed 7th in the intermediate group – a great achievement. Next week we will meet at Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview as we continue our preparation for ISA carnival towards the end of May.
In a tough weekend for SPC Tennis, I would like to congratulate our 8th and 10th Tennis Teams who both managed to secure victories over Oxley College. While the First IV’s unbeaten run came to an end, I am sure they will be back bigger and stronger this week to take on Redlands School.
All students are to wear full College Supporters' Uniform to Saturday sport whether they are competing or supporting. Failure to do so will result in that student being asked to leave College grounds.
Students are to arrive 30 minutes before their game is scheduled to kick off, at the latest.
School sport takes precedence over all outside commitments; any leave requests must be directed to the Director of Co-curricular or Head of Sport weeks in advance.
Referee decisions are to be accepted and respected.
