Inspiring Health Camp
Inspiring Health Camp organised by Local Learning & Employment Network (LLEN).
On Wednesday 21 May and Thursday, 22 May, Eloise Schultz, Chloe Mowat, Miley Culbert (Year 11) and Bella Forsyth (Yr 12) attended the Inspiring Health Camp in Churchill; they were accompanied by CCS teacher, Sally Higgins.
On Wednesday, our students explored a number of the health programs offered by Federation Uni and Monash Uni: throughout the day they engaged in 45 minute sessions that involved hands-on experience in the Allied Health Centre, the School of Health Nursing Labs, and Monash Rural Health Medicine Centre.
Our evening meal was held at the RSL in Morwell, where our students mingled with over 100 other students, staff and industry leaders from the Gippsland region. We listened to guest speakers who explained their pathways into the Health Industry and their current roles, and students were encouraged to ask questions of the industry leaders who moved between the tables.
On Thursday our students toured Gippsland Tafe in Morwell: they rotated between the Nursing, Allied Health and Aged Care fields, gaining valuable hands-on experience in these areas.
I would like to thank our Pathways Coordinator, Laura Considine, for enabling our students to be involved in this Camp, and for all the administrative effort required to organise our presence over the two days. Below are some thoughts from our students:
"Attending the health camp offered valuable insights and opened up many different pathways and opportunities for my future, and was overall an unforgettable and beneficial experience.” Chloe Mowat
“The Inspiring Careers Health Camp opened my eyes to the many meaningful paths that are offered within the healthcare field.” Eloise Schultz
