Feast Day of St Marcellin Champagnat
Every year the College celebrates the Feast Day of St Marcellin Champagnat with a special Mass and presentation. This year Fr Aneesh led us in prayer to draw significance to the life and work of Marcellin and his impact on the world, especially the education of young people. Marcellin wanted every child in his schools to know that they are known and loved, and we honour that expectation at Catholic College Sale. Our choir brought together the Church’s Jubilee Year Theme: Pilgrims of Hope with the Marist tradition of singing the Sub Tuum. We looked to the past to celebrate the present and help us build for the future.
One of our great traditions at Catholic College Sale is the celebration of the work of students, support staff and teachers in the school. Champagnat Medals are given to members of our College who fulfil the criteria of being:
- Compassionate and sensitive to the needs of others
- Genuine, straightforward, able to say what they believe respectfully
- Down to earth and uncomplicated
- Honest and friendly with both staff/students
- A quiet achiever
- Making a positive difference to those around us
- Able to influence students/staff for good
- A positive role model or example
Br Tony Clark joined us for the day’s celebrations and spoke about Being A Marist in the World Today. He then presented the following Champagnat Medals.
