Performing Arts

In Performing Arts, students have been exploring the connection between dance and music. By combining the two, they gain a deeper understanding of beat and rhythm across both disciplines. Throughout the term, students have been practising their dance routines and are now beginning to consolidate the sequence of moves—many even adding their own creative ideas.

Our junior students have been learning about beat and rhythm using a variety of percussion instruments such as shakers, triangles, tambourines, and resonator bells. Meanwhile, the senior students have been focusing on strumming patterns with the ukulele, further developing their musical skills.

Visual Art News

Our Foundation to Year 2 students have been busy exploring the art of self-portraiture, using observation, colour theory, and a touch of creativity!

Year 1/2 – Royal Self-Portraits

Students in Year 1/2 focused on mixing tints and shades to match their individual skin tones. Using mirrors and careful observation, they drew and painted themselves, paying attention to unique features like hairstyles and even missing teeth! Their portraits were completed with colourful clothing, and some students added playful crowns for a fun final touch.

Foundation – Autumn Walk in the Park

Foundation students created charming self-portraits based on ‘An Autumn Walk in the Park’. They learnt to draw the human figure using simple shapes and used mirrors to observe and include their unique facial features. For the background, students studied real autumn leaves from the garden, carefully drawing their shapes and veins before painting them with cool colours. To complete their artworks, they developed their clay modelling skills by creating flowers in warm colours, adding vibrant contrast and texture to their finished pieces.
