The Man Cave & MPower Workshops
The Man Cave & MPower
On Tuesday 21st April Students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 participated in workshops delivered by The Man Cave and MPower.
Man Cave: Workshop 1 – Understanding self – Yr7 and Yr8
The Level 1 workshop begins The Man Cave experience, focusing on self-discovery. Though a series of activities and discussions facilitated by Patrick and Jehan, students expand their emotional literacy and understand the impact of outdated masculine norms on their mental health and interpersonal relationships.
Man Cave: Workshop 2 – Supporting others – Yr9 and Yr10
The Level 2 workshop builds on the foundation of self-awareness established in Level 1. Ethan and Gaz guided students towards cultivating healthy relationships with others. Through shared narratives and personal reflections, the students see the evolving dynamics of relationships over time.
MPower Girls
MPower Girls encourages students to be more mindful of how they think, talk and act towards each other. The program explores the vast and unified nature of girls, help girls better understand their relationships, practise new ways of relating and develop the confidence to express feelings honestly and without aggression.
Facilitator Des explored the themes of being a good friend, the impact of body language on others and the effects of negative comments. The students learned specific skills to problem-solve peer issues effectively, be assertive in conflict situations, reduce stereotyping and to be more mindful of how their actions affect their peers.
REACH Workshops Inspire Self-Discovery in Our Students
On Wednesday 29th April, our Year 9 and 10 students participated in engaging and thought-provoking workshops delivered by REACH, an organisation dedicated to helping young people explore who they are and who they want to be.
REACH’s approach is powerful in its simplicity: rather than asking students what they want to do, they ask them to reflect on who they want to be. Through this lens, students are encouraged to develop self-awareness, challenge expectations, and build the confidence to live authentically.
Students took part in two workshops: Mirror and Locker Room.
In Mirror, facilitators Holly and Daphne worked closely with students to unpack gender stereotypes and examine how these can influence identity and behaviour. The session created a safe and supportive space for students to reflect and feel empowered to express their authentic selves with confidence.
In Locker Room, facilitators Regan and Zac challenged traditional stereotypes surrounding young men, highlighting the importance of vulnerability and open conversations. Students were encouraged to recognise that strength can also be found in honesty, connection, and emotional awareness.
These workshops provided valuable opportunities for reflection and growth, supporting our students to better understand themselves and each other.
