Preparation - Year 6 Disco - Thursday 11 June 2026 - 5.00 - 7.00pm

Preparation, Year 3 and Year 5 Occupational Therapy Screening - Tuesday May 5 and Friday May 8, 2026

Preparation, Year 3 and Year 5 will participate in Occupational Therapy screenings at school on Tuesday May 5, 2026 and Friday May 8, 2028. These screenings will be carried out by ActiveOT For Kids. ActiveOT value supporting child development in an integrative, collaborative & playful way.

Their screening approach involves a play-based observation of each child’s functional skills. Their specialist occupational therapists will observe your child in their school environment to connect and reflect alongside you.

This service provides not only a reflection of your child's abilities, but also recommendations to encourage the continued emergence of skills for life. A screener is a snapshot of your child's development, which includes:

A 20-minute screener with your child in school
A written screening report
A 15-minute phone/online parent feedback discussion (if recommended by the screening OT)

*A permission form has been sent to parents to complete this morning.

*Please note - the cost of this screening is included in the Consolidated Fixed Levy for the respective grades.

Year 4 Jacqueline Harvey Author Visit and Book Launch Event - Monday 11 May, 2026

You don’t need a crystal ball to know that this new series by Jacqueline Harvey is bound to be a bestseller. ‘The Ghost and the Girl’ is delightful, with a gorgeous French setting, colourful characters and a mystery to solve. You have to wait until the series is released in May, but Jacqueline Harvey’s fans will be thrilled by the new series - and I think there will be a new brigade of fans hooked by this tale.'

Paul Macdonald: Paul's Book Trail

We are excited that Jacqueline Harvey is visiting Year 4 to speak about her brand new book, The Girl and the Ghost. On Monday 11 May, our girls will spend the morning listening to Jacqueline speak about her writing process, her research, and the fun she had with her new character, Josephine.

Walk Safely to School Day - Friday 15 May 2026

We are excited to promote with families and girls the Kambala Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 15 May, 2026.

As I see Bayview Hill Road and Tivoli Avenue heaving at times (particularly before school) under the volume of cars I would like to commend to girls and their families this initiative.

Prep to Year 6 girls will be able to come to school in their PE uniform on Friday 15 May 2026.

Each student who walks all or part of they way to school with earn one house point with the winning house being announced thereafter.

If your daughter has a representative event on that day - for example, IPSHA Debating, please pack her Winter uniform in her Sports bag.

Service Learning Incursion Year 2 - Wednesday 13 and 20 May 2026

On Wednesday 13 May and Wednesday 20 May 2025, Year 2 will take part in a service-learning incursion, Scones and Stories, run by Kids Giving Back. This intergenerational program brings Kambala students together with aged care residents for meaningful connection, conversation and fun.

The experience begins with a letter exchange, where students and residents introduce themselves and share a little about their lives. Students will then take part in a pre-visit session led by a Kids Giving Back facilitator, focusing on respectful interaction, active listening and inclusive games.

On the day, students and residents will share scones and jam, enjoy games, and exchange stories. This enriching program supports students to build empathy, confidence and social responsibility, while offering residents companionship, stimulation and connection.

Massie Recital - Thursday 21 May, 2026 - Music Performance Theatre, Kambala - 7.30am

The recital features performances from Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2 students who are currently enrolled in private music lessons at school. The recital provides a valuable opportunity for our young musicians to showcase their progress and gain performance experience in a supportive environment.

ySafe - Online Safety Education Incursion Year 2 - Year 6 - Friday 22 May 2026

Mr David Smith from ySafe will conduct sessions with our Year 2 - Year 6 cohorts on Friday 22 May 2026. These sessions have been developed to educate students about the fundamental components of cyber safety. We offer developmentally targeted sessions which address key cyber risks, and build capacity in young people to navigate the digital platforms they encounter.

We emphasise the constructive relationship children can have with technology under our positive digital citizenship ethos and up-skill students in understanding the importance of online safety and ways to implement safe online practices.

A parent information session will be held later this term.

Inquisitive Minds Maths Incursion Years 3 - 6 - Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 May 2026

This term, students in Years 3-6 will participate in an exciting Maths incursion with Inquisitive Minds. The students will engage with maths activities and brain teasers which demonstrate the value of approaching problems strategically. They will apply a range of problem solving strategies, including Drawing a Diagram, Make a Model, and Look for a Pattern. Students will participate in interactive, hands-on challenges, as well as developing skills of cooperative learning in a fun, engaging way. The incursion will take place in the Junior School on the following dates:

Monday 25 May: Year 3 and Year 4

Tuesday 26 May: Year 5 and Year 6

Junior School Athletics Carnival - Friday 29 May 2026 - ES Marks Athletics Field

The Junior School Interhouse Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 29 May 2026 for students in Years 3 – 6 at ES Marks Athletics Field, located at the corner of Anzac Parade and Boronia Street, Kensington (enter via Boronia Street not Alison Road).

Travel to the Venue

All students must arrive at school by 7.45am for an 8:05am sharp bus departure.
Carline will operate from 7:30am to ensure all girls are present on Tivoli Lawn for roll call before boarding the buses.

Travel Home

Parents may take their own daughter(s) home directly from the carnival at its conclusion (PLEASE COMPLETE GOOGLE FORM SENT EARLIER THIS WEEK WITH THE PERMISSION SLIP).

Alternatively, girls will return to school by bus, arriving by approximately 2:30pm, in time for regular carline and Extra-Curricular Activities.

Carnival Start Time: 9:00am
Uniform: Sports uniform, Polo shirt, sports cap, and sunscreen
What to Bring IN KAMBALA SPORTS BAG: Morning tea, lunch, and a water bottle. Please pack sufficient food and water for the day (NO CANTEEN LUNCHES ON THIS DAY).
Medication:
- Any student requiring an EpiPen, asthma puffer, or other medication must bring it on the day.
- Medication should be clearly labelled, in a zip-lock bag, with dosage and timing instructions.
Participation: All students will participate in a minimum of four events.
House Points: Attendance and participation contribute to House points.
Supervision:
- All students must remain for the full duration of the carnival.
- Students may only go home with their own parent/guardian (not with other families) - PLEASE COMPLETE THE GOOGLE FORM SENT EARLIER TIS WEEK WITH THE PERMISSION SLIP .
- No changes to home arrangements will be permitted on the day.
Spectators: Parents and carers are warmly invited to attend and are encouraged to wear House colours.
- Please sit behind the students in House areas and refrain from inviting your daughter to sit with you, as she will be supporting her House.
Parking: No parking is available in the ES Marks carpark. On-street parking is available on Boronia Street.
Health Guidelines: Please do not attend the carnival if you are feeling unwell. Students who are unwell should remain at home, in line with school health guidelines.

IMPORTANT NOTES

There will be no Year 3 Touch or Year 4 – 6 Netball Training after the carnival on Friday 29 May.
All other Extra-Curricular Activities will proceed as usual.
A coffee cart (for parents only) will be available, offering drinks and limited food. Students are not permitted to visit the coffee cart.
No dogs are allowed at the ES Marks Athletics Field – this is a dog-free venue.

Annual Strings and Orchestra Evening - Monday 22 June 2026 - Alexander Hall - 6.00pm

Join us for an evening celebrating the progress and dedication of our string musicians from Years 1–12.

School-day rehearsal: Junior students involved must bring their instrument and music for a daytime run-through in Alexander Hall. Class teachers will share the schedule.
Arrival time: 5.15pm for tuning and setup
Uniform: Full winter school uniform
