Term 2
Literacy
During our Core Literacy element we have had a week to review concepts to help students consolidate what we have learnt over the last few weeks. In Week 5 we will be reaching the end of the alphabet as we cover the last letter, being q. We will then begin to dive into learning our digraphs which is when two letters are working together to make one sound. The first two we will focus on are sh as in ship and th as in thumb or then.
We have been looking into Fairytales in Literacy lessons and will continue to do so over the next fortnight. We learnt that fairytales are;a children's story about magical and imaginary beings and lands; a fairy story or a fabricated story, especially one intended to deceive.
Some of the fairytales we have or will cover are Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and The Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs.

Maths
We have continued to build our fluency skills my revisiting how to roll dice, subitise collections to 6 and below with speed and our number formation. By revisiting these skills, we are seeing an increase in students engagement and to help them consolidate their maths skills in a positive environment.
We have taken the deep dive into our 'teen' numbers 11–20. We are continue to build understanding of the tens and the ones in the number to understand the whole. We have learnt how to demonstrate this understanding through the use of tens frames, icy pole sticks including a bundle of ten and the appropriate number of ones. We are continuing to build our skills in identifying these numbers through connecting them to the numeral, name and accurate collection.
Over the coming weeks students will be working to understand the part-part-whole relationships of numbers. We will be learning new skills and linking this to our addition and subtraction understanding.
Uniform Name Checks
There are a few school clothing items coming to school and now that the jumpers are in the rotation, we would appreciate if you could go through all your child's clothing and check that it is very clearly marked who it belongs to. If there are existing names on items, please cross these out and make your child's name stand out as much as possible.
Please reach out to us if you require any support or have any questions at all.
Kind regards,
Alex Whittle (0A) and Kate Clark (0B)
