Sport & Camp Report

Ascot Vale District Cross Country

What a result at the Ascot Vale District Cross Country Championships. We had every runner finish the race and every person put in a maximum effort. Many deep breaths were taken in at the end of each race and we are very proud of all of you here at St Mary’s.

We congratulate Madeleine Szewczuk (9/10 girls), Hudson Ciantar (11 boys) and Harry Torres (12/13 boys) who won their races.

Out of the 6 races run on the day, we had a total of 17 top 10 finishes. That means we are sending seventeen runners to the division race on the 27th May.

Special Shoutout

We’d love to give a special shout out to Reid Robinson.

Reid had a lot of running left in the tank, and could have taken second place from his friend from a different school. Reid had also beaten this same person into second last year. Instead of taking second, Reid let his friend cross the line in front of him.

What a display of sportsmanship! Well done Reid!

Year 6 Camp Acknowledgement

Students from our school have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
