Understanding the NCCD at St Mary’s
At St Mary’s, we are committed to ensuring every child can access learning on the same basis as their peers. Each year, all Australian schools take part in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD). This national process helps schools identify students who receive ongoing adjustments or “help” so they can participate fully in their learning.
According to the Fact Sheet, the NCCD counts “the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’” and “the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students” .
This includes students who need curriculum adjustments, health‑related supports, personalised learning plans, or wellbeing‑based adjustments.
The NCCD helps schools and teachers better understand student needs and ensures support is consistent, transparent and responsive. The Fact Sheet explains that the NCCD “helps teachers, principals, education authorities and governments to better support students… at school” .
