Embracing co-curricular life at College

We are excited to share with you the vibrant array of co-curricular opportunities available to our students this term. At College, we take pride in providing a diverse range of activities beyond the classroom.

One of the defining strengths of our school is the abundance of co-curricular activities on offer. We believe in the importance of making the most of these opportunities, as they not only enhance academic learning but also enrich the overall school experience.

Already this term, our students have had the chance to showcase their talents by auditioning for our school musical, joining our choirs, and representing their peers on the Student Representative Council. As we look ahead to Term 2, students have been asked to express their interest in playing basketball, hockey and soccer.

For our Year 10-12 students, the upcoming Dinner Dance promises to be a memorable event, providing camaraderie and celebration opportunities. Additionally, our dedicated staff are available every evening in the library to offer academic support, ensuring that students receive the guidance they need to excel in their studies.

Furthermore, we are thrilled to announce the launch of various lunchtime activities in both the library and sports centre. These initiatives aim to foster a sense of community while encouraging students to explore new interests and passions.

The recent swimming sports event showcased the enthusiasm and talent within our student body. We encourage all students to step out of their comfort zones and embrace the many opportunities available.

As we continue to navigate the academic year, I urge our students to seize every opportunity that comes their way. Whether participating in a school production, joining a sports team, or engaging in co-curricular clubs, trying something new may lead to some unexpected joy!

School Counselling Service

The Hamilton and Alexandra College has a School Counselling Service that is available for all students across both the Junior and Senior Schools.

Our School Counsellor, Janette, can assist with any student's needs relating to mental health and wellbeing, worries about relationships and friendships, school or other social and emotional issues.

Our Counsellor will regularly communicate with students, families and staff to ensure a student’s wellbeing is supported and measured. All parents and staff are encouraged to discuss concerns early to plan for student success. Our Counsellor uses evidence-based approaches to respond in a supportive manner to assist students to prioritise their wellbeing and social and emotional goals for a positive school experience.

Contacting the School Counsellor

  • Parents and staff can contact the child’s Mentor to discuss a request for counselling. Or email Janette directly, counsellor@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au
  • Senior School students can contact Janette via email or Teams.

The Counsellor will discuss solutions and management with the student and assist the student in finding the best support team for their individual needs.

Where do the sessions take place?

Counselling occurs in the designated Counselling Room during the school day. Sessions can also occur after school if coordinated to suit both parties at the Boarding House or the Senior School meeting room in the tower building near the front reception.
