Writing
Students have been learning to write persuasive and procedural text in the past fortnight. We have read a range of engaging mentor texts, such as:
- How to Babysit a Grandpa?
- The Day the Crayons Quit
- Can I Be Your Dog?
Students have learnt about the structure and features of different text types. They then had a go at writing persuasive texts based on the topics of their interest. We also brought “The day the crayons quit” to live, where the teachers hid the colouring pencils or textas somewhere in the classroom, and students wrote to persuade the stationery to come back.
Procedural Text Unit
Students made fairy bread with Nuttelex, bread, and sprinkles. They then wrote a recipe for how to make the fairy bread, including lots of verbs in their writing.
Maths
Students learnt about data by asking questions, and recording the data using tally marks and graphs. They had lots of fun finding out about everyone’s favourite ice cream flavour, as well as how their peers get to school everyday.
