To our wonder school community,
Can you believe we are over half way through the Term? Where has that time gone?
If you haven't already done so, please ensure you have signed and returned all the forms that were provided at the beginning of the year. For students to access technology we need a consent form signed, Photo Permission form - it allow us to post images of your child on their own SeeSaw, we need permission - even though it is only you who see the images.
For those members of our community who attend mass regularly at St Brigid's and are looking to apply for a scholarship, please come and see Ms Correll.
Our school is filling up fast, if you have a child who is due to start school in the coming year, please come and get an enrolment form. When they start Kindergarten and have had an enrolment interview, they can attend our transition program called Flourishing Hearts with a qualified teacher - Ms. Edwards who supports students transitioning to school.
Last week I messaged you through SeeSaw about students coming to school late. I would like to share this info graphic of what it means when students are always late.
Even I was a little shocked at just the 5 minutes late means a week of school that has been missed. The first part of the day in a school is the most important part to find out what is happening and really sets the children up for success.
This Friday is our Pupil Free Day and Staff are actively engaged with Inclusive Education. This learning is important for us to support the many students in our school with varying needs. Our staff value the opportunity to learn about new insights into pedagogical practices to ensure success for all our students.
Saturday 9th of March Ramadan begins, we have many families in our school who participate in Ramadan. This is the most important moth on the Islamic calendar. It is a time when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.
Just like Catholics who are in their time of fasting during Lent. It is our solemn religious observance in the liturgical year. During this time we as Catholics focus for 40 days on prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Whilst we have not had any incidents directly related to our students...
"Students and families are reminded to be wary of approaches from strangers, especially when they are unaccompanied or travelling to and from school. If they are approached students should not respond and should not accept offers of rides or gifts.
Students should seek the assistance of other nearby adults if they feel unsafe and should report the event to a trusted adult (parent or school staff member) as soon as possible.
SAPOL advises that taking out a mobile phone and calling police can deter the offender and they recommend the student making a formal report to their closest police station.”
We trust you have a lovely 4 day weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 12th of March.
Yours in Peace Love and Learning,
Shannon Correll
