This week we are learning to tell a text.

VOCABULARY

Retell: To share what happened in the story including the beginning, middle and end.

Beginning: The start of the story that includes the character(s) and the setting.

Middle: What goes wrong in the story - the problem. 

End: How the problem gets solved - the solution. 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

After your child reads their take home book from their satchel, have them tell you what happened in the book. Encourage them to think about what happened in the beginning, middle and end.

You can ask your child questions about the book to help them. For example:

• Who was the main character?
• What went wrong in the story?
• How did they fix the problem?
